FWIW - Two days ago marked the fourth time in the past three months that a client’s rifle connecting through Dubai wound up at a destination other than the intended Windhoek. This time it was Gambia and the client is still waiting on their rifle. Crappy way to start a hunt. Once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action... ___________________ Just Remember, We ALL Told You So.

This is terrible! But, looking at Emirates destinations, they do not seem to fly to Windhoek at all. They have code share with SAA and Air Namibia, and all flights go through that bastion of flying paradise, South Africa. One connection goes through Cape Town and one through J'berg. Personally, I would avoid flying through any South Africa at all costs.

Emirates still be better than Delta. Delta seems to go out of their way to leave ALL luggage in Atlanta. Last trip to Uganda, rifles arrived 4 days later, my duffle arrived 12 days later. I can't imagine this happening on an Emerates flight, each time we have flown Emerates, leaving Dubai, I have been held up momentarily while boarding for the gate agent to verify my "special" item had been loaded on the plane. I watched as my boarding pass was scanned and an alert came up on the screen, the agent had to get a supervisor to verify. I'd bet it was the connecting airlines. Karl Evans

Exactly! I will repeat what IO have been saying all along, transiting through South Africa is asking for trouble. Changing airlines there is almost guaranteed problems.

I must be the luckiest fellow on the planet ( usually not) in 14 trips to South Africa through Jouberg I have never had a single problem, nor do I know first hand of anyone that has. Delta did leave my rifles in Atlanta one time though and it cost me an extra day in joberg....... I think most of the "joberg" problems where in the past? .
