Excellent B&B in Windhoek
For my first two safaris in Namibia, I stayed at Onganga Pension, and was quite satisfied with the rooms, service and price. When booking my 2015 trip, I heard that Onganga had been sold and was now run by a Chinese operator. The reviews I read of the new operators were not positive, so in searching for a new Windhoek B&B, I relied on "Frostbit" (Jim and Joyce W.) for their recommendation. Jim recommended Casa Piccolo B&B, and he was spot on. It's less than 1 mile from Joe's Beer House, had very nice rooms, free Wi-Fi, and a free breakfast. To top it off, it was 30% less than Onganga!

Yep, Casa Piccolo is a great place and is very well situated near a lot of great restaurants.

I have been to Namibia SEVEN times now and will return in 2016. I have stayed at Casa Piccolo on every trip. I always go into Windhoek at the beginning of each trip to change money, buy spirits and eat lunch at Le Gourmet restaurant downtown.Joe's, though not as good as it once was (and now under new ownership) is handy as is La Portuga (a good place for seafood) and there is a good liquor store just 1/2 block from Casa Piccolo. A day or two in town allows easy recovery of any delayed luggage . No problem with"lost" bag thus far BUT recovery while in town is more expedient that it would be in the field. Claudia also has secure storage for hard case or gear not going to the hunt farm. I cannot recommend Casa Piccolo too highly.

If you've never been to Joe's you should go but it wears on you quickly. Other than the nostalgia and decor, the food is not what is used to be and service is... well slooooow.

Other than Joe's there are lot of great restaurants around. My favorite is definitely Stellenbosch, but there are plenty of places to explore.

If you go to Casa Piccolo from the states and have room in your luggage be sure to take Claudia some real Maple Syrup. She will endlessly thank you.

Cheers
