Will be traveling through Dubai next year on Emirates to Zimbabwe and was wondering if I should dress any different than if I was traveling through Joberg. I.E. don't wear my hunting clothes but something more conservative like dockers and a shirt.

Thank You

Wear what you want (within reason). No one will even notice that you're wearing hunting clothes.

Bringing the wife?

Everytime we would "chop 5th fleet" and come into the Persian Gulf from Europe or Asia, we had to update our civvies to be respectful of the culture.

For men it isn't that hard; no tank tops! Any go America garments are probably not ideal or something that highlights you as an American tourist.

For women, no mid-driff, upper arms showing, too much cleavage (any), short skirts, tons of make up that kind of thing.

Here's a link from the Navy times. I am long sense retired, but I think it is still valid.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Quatar, and other nations in the region have more stringent clothing requirements, especially on women.

Then you have nothing to worry about. Wear whatever you are comfortable with.

Of course nothing profane on the shirt, anti-Islam, that kind of thing.

I always dress casually upscale when traveling by air. That way I am comfortable, but can enter almost any restaurant or hotel without upsetting the staff.

I never wear hunting clothes in any cosmopolitan area. Just a matter of taste for me, just as I would never wear a Tuxedo in Walmart.

Thank you all for your responses. I think I'll wear something casual so I don't stick out anymore than I usually do.

I like those "travel" casual sports jackets in Olive or dark Khaki. They look like a cheap khaki "sports jacket" but have various internal pockets, and extra zippered pockets inside the side pockets for security. Rather tacky, but somewhat presentable, and I've worn one in a leopard blind when it was a bit chilly.

It's just a big airport...wear what you normally would, no need to change anything. There is a mix of all cultures, races, people etc in that place. You won't stick out. I wore 5-11 cargo pants and a T-shirt.

I did that last year and she didn't like it and said not this year. So I told her that this year I would only bring a suit, she replied you don't own one, to which I said I still have my birthday suit. She's still laughing.
