I know I am beating the dead horse, but since I am now serious about a trip:

Can Americans ticket straight through to Zim with firearms?

Dulles to Jo berg to Harare is a very good route for me on SAA.

Thanks,
Arniet

Can you make the connecting flight from Joberg to Harare? How much layover?

My reservations for Sept have me booked from Dulles and a connecting flight from Jo'burg with a 2hour 20 minute layover. It's scheduled to arrive at Jo'burg at 5:20 PM; depart at 7:40 PM; and arrive Harare at 9:20 PM.

You should be able to catch that last flight to Harare from either the SAA-from Dulles, or the Delta- from Atlanta flights. The SAA flight from JFK now [or soon] arrives in the morning so several connections are available.

Ditto. I have done the same thing the last two years.

I'm doing the same Dulles, Joberg, Harare route on SAA in May. Have taken this flight several times. The only thing that concerns me is the rather short 2 hrs. + layover in Joberg. Last year this flight didn't stop in Dakar on the way over and you had approx. 5 hours in Joberg which gave you time to get lunch and a shower in the Premier lounge.

From Wayne ,PA wouldn't it be just as effective to fly from/through JFK departing there in the morning and arriving in JNB in the morning [this flight appears to be non-stop 11:35am -8:45am], allowing all day to get to Harare?

Just a thought.

Les - Sorry for the long delay in responding. I fly out of Dulles because my daughter lives in Arlington and I drive down early, spend some time with her and leave my car at her house for the duration of the trip. when I return, I can get some sleep at her house then drive home.
