Am looking for a locking box that will hold minimum of three boxes of 20 rounds of 375 H and H.

What is your recommendation, please?

I bought a small plastic case made to hold one handgun, then removed the two pieces of foam. It had holes for one lock located just inside the handle. The case held 3 20-round plastic boxes of .458 Lott ammunition, plus my Swiss Army knife and a leatherman. I used it for a trip to Australia and another to Zimbabwe with no problems.

I used a pelican case and cut the foam to hold three boxes of .338, with plenty of room to spare.

I have used two. One was heavy plastic tool case from a sabre saw, it had holes for a padlock. The other was a metal security box
that I added a hasp to. Both worked well. The metal box was used because it held more ammo when I took two rifles.

I use a small Pelican case. Whatever you choose, be sure it is study enough and capable of standing alone as a separate piece of booked luggage, in the event some agent says it must travel alone, outside of another bag. This has been known to happen and plastic handgun cases may not hold-up to solo travel. A Pelican case is built like a tank but not prohibitively heavy. Always better to spend a couple of bucks to ensure successful ammunition travel on an expensive safari.

I've never had the problems that LionHunter wrote about, but when traveling to Africa & back, it is best to cover all bases.

I use this. $12.00 at Lowes plus the locks. It's larger than what you require as it will hold 60 rounds each of .375 H&H and 7x57. I put some extra locks inside with a note for the TSA to replace if they cut one off.

I sell these. They hold SEVEN MTM or similar 20 round cases perfectly. They are aluminum, lockable and INDESTRUCTIBLE. PM or e-mail me if interested.

I'm with lionhunter. I've had a couple of small Pelican cases for about 18 years. They are nearly bullet proof, can easily go as a seperate piece of luggage if necessary, can accept two TSA locks and will last a lifetime.
Also great for your optics and anything else fragile.

Lion Hunter and mark Young are correct. Find the right sized Pelican case.

Not only are they dang tough, they are water/dust proof as well.

IMHO that is the only locking ammo box to use.

I use a Storm 2050. In my checked luggage on the way over and seperate when the SA guys in East London change the rules. Hasn't failed me yet. Enough room for 2 Case guard 50's then a little extra.

My son and I both use Kalispel aluminum ammo boxes for Africa. Very happy with this lifetime piece of gear.

Lightweight for the volume and very tough, but not as waterproof as the Pelican.

I use a bright orange, plastic "ammo can" that I bought at Academy in the boat section. It will take a padlock also. It is small enough to fit in any suitcase, yet large enough to not "disappear" during transit.

Another useful Pelican is the 1400. Just depends on the type, caliber and amount of ammo, as well as the size of the ammo boxes, etc. that you are taking. Big Grin For df06's requirements stated above, the 1200 would be ideal. I prefer mine in Orange or Yellow as they are easier to spot if they require the ammo to be shipped separately at some point on the trip.

I'm with 'ozhunter' w/ his recommendation. I have one and it is PERFECT for 3 boxes of ammo, plus it's waterproof and has places for your TSA locks and a compass on top. also. They are manufactured by MTM. (Not too big or too little!)
One company selling them @ the Tulsa show this weekend was www.rareammo.com - J.E.K. Inc. They had the orange model S1074-36 for $10., plus the OD model, also. Phone #1-985-395-9230. They are out of Louisiana.
Mine has been to Africa and I intend to take it again for my next journey over! Good hunting!
