Have a client with health issues, diabetes as well as a heart condition (a fib) booked to hunt South Africa and then tour Cape Town and Vic Falls. Medicare wont cover him outside the US, any ideas on medical insurance?

I have Medicare supplemental insurance Plan F and it DOES cover me for foreign travel at a cost of $124/month. sounds like he has poor or no supplemental coverage in which case he is screwed. he can change his supplemental coverage( assuming he has any) but it is a bit difficult except during open enrollment periods.

GR is air evac insurance, not health insurance

Thanks Larry, that would work for his peace of mind, pretty scary for an elderly first timer.

My office manager thinks it is Atlas Insurance but will verify tomorrow.

I buy a separate policy for each trip. I think it has a $1 million limit. It is not expensive.

Most of these travel policies have a Medical Insurance component.

Les

[PS show the cost of the trip as $0 if all they want is Medical and fringe coverage. Note pre-existing conditions coverage availability is usually limited]
