Hello All
Needing a bit of advice - I'm assuming the travel ban for sporting rifles from UK to Zim is still in place. Has anyone managed to get around it? By breaking their trip in South Africa for example?
Thanks

The normal way is to book, UK to RSA and then book a separate ticket from RSA to Zim.

Don't even think about it. Every time one of my clients has tried to travel through the UK, the guns have not shown up. Or they just flat out refuse to put you on the plane.

The Brits sold their colonial sons and daughters down the river (well they had already told the Brits to shove it but that's a minor detail) and then what do they do? They make it harder for those same folks to earn a living in what's left of the former colony.

Really, do they think they are hunting Mugabe by refusing to allow hunters to take their guns to Zim? Or who is it, exactly, they are trying to hurt?

Russ,

I totally agree with everything you stated except your first paragraph. If your clients had problem in the UK with guns they didn't do their homework. Having flown through London more than a dozen times myself and having had many clients fly through London I can promise there are no more issues there than any other 1st world country. Use a firearms savvy travel agent and you won't have problems.

I've flown through London seven times with rifles without a single issue.

Besides that, the OP is already in the UK so I'm sure that he knows how to get his guns through without problems. His only concern is the delivery of the firearms to Zim and back.

Deerdogs,
We too here in Oz are not allowed to export our guns to Zim. because of the ban.

We can export to South africa no problems.

This is what we do.

Seperate tickets and all is good.

cheers

I wonder if SCI or any other hunting/conservation organization has ever tried to do anything about this legally. There does not seem to be any logic in this.

The stupidity of the politicians will never stop to amaze you!

How can one be "exporting" anything if he is bringing it back??
