With the controversy over locks on your gun case I have a tuff pack with the barrel lock. I have used 16 plus times to Africa without any issues Has anyone recently encountered any problems with TSA or Customs with this kind of lock. Next trip on Delta.

I have flown as many times to Africa as you to Africa, as well as numerous trips to Alaska and Mexico with the TuffPak barrel lock on both of my TuffPaks. Most of them have been on Delta, some to Mexico on other airlines. As far as I'm concerned, those TuffPaks with the barrel locks fully comply with federal law as to who should have the key and access to your firearms. Only you are supposed to have the key to your firearms case. Not sure what your issue would be. I declare my firearms, fill out the unloaded firearms declaration card, place it in the TuffPak and wait 20-30 minutes, per the Delta rep's suggestion, to see if TSA needs to inspect my gun case and for the key to do so. Either they do or do not, and when I get confirmation from the ticketing agent that I can proceed to the boarding gate, I do so. However, I carefully listen to the airport intercom make sure that I am being summoned back to ticketing. I have had that happen twice, once with Delta to Africa, and once to Mexico with Southwest, and I went back and gave them the key. They are not supposed to allow your gun case to fly if they cannot contact you for the key to inspect. They are not supposed to cut your locks off and then let the gun case fly unsecured or do any of the other bullsh-t tricks that they have taken the liberty to do so with others on AR.
