I was told that I must have my ammo in the original factory box. Is this true? And can I have a partial box of ammo.

I'd like to get as close to the 11 pound limit as possible. If they check/weigh the ammo, will they be weighing the boxed ammo only?, (not the case I hope).

Thanks for the assistance.

Go Duke!!

I understand your concerns, but with all due respect, you need a better travel agent, or learn how to use the search features better or both.......

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

The actual requirement is that the ammo container be of original manufacturers packaging OR other packaging that keeps every round separated from every other round. Boxes such as the MTN plastic cases meet that requirement and are perfectly legal.

Texas Blue Devil,

Just returned last week from SA.

Flew out of Dulles. This ammo carrier was inside the checked luggage. It was locked, TSA asked for the keys, inspected, and gave the keys back. No prbolems whatsoever.

With the rifle ammo and 2 boxes of shotgun shells and two tiny locks the whole thing was a tad bit under 11 pounds.

You never know what kind of yahoo one is bound to run into (either in US or SA) and God knows what their interpretation of 11 pounds or secure box or manufacturer case is going to be. Atleast packing the ammo in a case with less than $50 investment, I had peace of mind.

11 pounds is supposed to be the limit for SA which includes the case.

Did not have any problems on the way back with some boxes only partially full.
