Ok I have some resolution. After copious amount of reading and emails I have some resolution. Problem was the (5) ovoid pills I carry for possible kidney stone and the testosterone injections. These both are on the forbidden list, can not just bring them in with a prescription. These required a prepared permission according to Ministry of health. So it required a letter from my dr stating I was under his care and for what and what drugs. And also a copy of the prescription. This then needs to be sent electronically to the ministry of health in form of there online application. It took 10-12 days to get an approval. I was using Gracy travel and this was something I had to handle myself, they did provide a bit of insight.
Regular blood pressure, choestral blood thinner meds only need to be in prescription bottle and not more than 3 months supply. Be aware that things like extra strength tylenol, excedrin.... are not permitted.
Maybe some have traveled w/o this stuff and been ok. I just did not want to chance it and get in trouble or have meds confiscated.
Hope this is of help.

Brent,

Glad to see you can relax on that issue. Also glad you did not take the "It will probably be OK" route. All good to know for the future.

Strange. In a lot of trips through Dubai, including a 4 day stopover, I have never been checked or had a bag opened. Must have an honest, stupid face.....

I think you are right.

Many years ago, I was travelling through several European small airports to get to back to Dubai.

I was unshaven for 3 days.

I got stopped by customs at Dubai.

The officer was very polite, and said "would you put your bag here please?"

Pointing to a table for inspection.

I stopped, looked at him and said in local Arabic "Officer, I have been through at least a dozen airports, no one bothered to look at my bag, now I am home and you want to look?"

He said "My apologies sir, I did not realize you are a citizen. No need to open your bag"

We had a bit of a discussion on my looks, and we both laughed.

He never asked to see my passport, as he recognized my accent.

I flew through Dubai last week. Had all my meds in the plastic weekly meds containers. No questions asked. I did get questioned about traveling with guns as I went through the check-in at the gate when boarding the flight to Jo'burg.
