At least us poor folk still get to sit down....

But really, lots of guys gripe about the cost of a safari, yet have no issue paying half the cost of the safari for a 1st class ticket to get there...That doesn't make sense either...

The flight over there is a necessary evil and although i dread the last few hours in the air from London to Joberg, its really not that bad.

My flight this year actually cost me $1,000 less than it did 5 years ago and i can pay it in Canadian dollars...

I wonder how that fellow made out that was planning on taking a boat across for his safari and doing it old school????

It's already bad enough in back for 15 to 16 hours, I couldn't imagine smaller seats and less legroom.

The economy bulkhead seats are a joy. The seat is narrower because of the tray table is the armrest and the seatbelt has an airbag device so the row can be closer to the wall. My knees touch.
We got to Tambo 20 minutes before departure , our seats were gone and I rode to Frankfurt in on of those seats. My feet were still wet with Zambezi River water and I was thankful to be sitting there. Our PH knows a honcho at SAA and who made a call to hold the plane, he is my Hero.

I hope Emirates does not use these! I am leaving for Dubai on May 5 but it will be on a Boeing 777. Many here on AR brag about comfort on Emirates. I am six feet three and two-forty.

For once I'm actually quite happy to be shorter. At 5'8" and 175#, standard seats fit me just fine.

That just leaves me more dollars to spend on the trophies. Smiler

I am going to be somewhere between those pictures of the seats in the back, and those in the front. Wink

I am 6'2" and 235. The excitement of the safari gets me so riled up, that the flight is no big deal. I fly coach and have learned to accept that it is a small price to pay (16 hour flight) for the adventure gained.

It would not make any sense for me except I fly on airline miles earned through work. I much prefer spending the miles on those long haul flights than spending excessive amounts of miles to get short flights that I can buy for a couple hundred dollars.

I'm just too damn cheap to pay for business class or first class. It's just 24 hours, I won't pay more than a daily fee extra just to make it a bit more comfortable. A matter or principle.

Did I say I was cheap?

But if they keep narrowing the width of the seats, I'm going to have lose weight or go to at least business class.
