I've tried searching Lufthansa's site but have no luck w/ regulations for ammunition transport. Anyine travel this year w/ them & what did you do; ammo in checked bag or ammo in guncase? TSA doesn't care. thanks LIFE IS NOT A SPECTATOR'S SPORT!

i flew lufthansa last year and was told the ammo had to go into a separate checked bag, that there would be a $50 fee for the guncase. no one even opened the guncase, checked the ammo for weight or caliber and did not charge me the fee. this was in houston. i would still suggest a separate bag for the ammo as it seems to ease everyone/s mind for some reason. good luck

I flew Lufthansa from Houston in July. Was told they might charge for gun case. They did not. I had ammo in locked metal box in my duffel bag. I told the person at check-in that I had a firearm in the long case and the ammo was in the duffel bag. She put a "special handling tag" on both the rifle case and the duffel. She never looked at either one of them. I had to take the rifle case to a different counter for TSA inspection. In Windhoek both the case and the duffel were delivered to the Police office in the airport since both had the "special handling tag".
