the real expense can arise if you have to forward ship it from the port of entry. 3 years ago, when a bunch of trophies arrived at SFO, the customs broker quoted me $500 to ship on to Fresno- 150 miles( it only cost $700 for air shipment from Joburg). needless to say, i drove there and had the box loaded in my truck. if you live within easy driving distance of the POE, then you will save considerable money...
