All, Getting married and future wife has agreed to a plains game hunt in SA on condition we go to Cape Town before going into the bush. Couple quick questions: 1. Recommendations on things to do, stay, eat etc 2. Recommendations on things not to do, go, etc 3. Any other RSA cities that you would recommend instead 4. Any concerns with Cape Town? Thanks Rick Rick

I would recommend "The Table Bay Hotel" right at the V&A waterfront, connected to the mall. If the weather is bad just walk thru the mall to Dinner. Be sure and download Uber App. Works great and cheap. The Table Bay Hotel has a shuttle to Table Mountain several times a day. Other activities are Wine County, Penguins, Cape of Good Hope; and, Shark Cage diving. Camps Bay is very nice to visit. If I was not staying at V&A Waterfront, I would stay in Camps Bay. A couple of waterfront places to eat. Kind of reminded me of Bondi Bay - Sydney, only much smaller.

Cape Town is a hell of a city. I took my family there in December and surprised my old man with a day Cobra rental. http://www.capecobrahire.co.za/ Awesome way to see things, and a hell of a lot of fun. Day trip to vineyards is a must if you are wine drinker, October won't be hot hot, but could do a beach trip. The local market at the Waterfront is great, as is Hout Bay Market. Botanical gardens are beautiful, and you have to go up table mountain. The hike is great, and not too hard. ----------------------------------------- "I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. -Henry David Thoreau, Walden

Another vote for Table Bay and the Radisson Blu is also nice. Lots to see and do in CT, but remember you are in Africa and in the hood so be particularly cautious at night. The bush is a lot safer... ___________________ Just Remember, We ALL Told You So.

When I took my wife, we stayed at the Atlantic View..It is truely a great B&B. The place only serves adults, no children allowed. They have private tours of the wine country, private car and driver..The rooms are great with a view of the Atlantic..It is in Camps Bay, but they will take you into downtown Cape Town..My wife and I both agree it was one of our best vacations..Also hunted which again was great. The owner is from the US and the place is imaculate. Paul Gulbas

My wife and I spent a few days in Cape Town in April and had a blast. I booked three days of tours with African Sky Tours and things couldn't have worked out any better. They were affordable and the logistics were seamless. We spent one day touring the city and taking the ferry out to Robben Island. The next day we spent touring the wine country and the third day we headed out to the Cape and Boulders Beach to see the penguins. We stayed at the Cape Town Lodge Hotel...very affordable and I think I booked it through Hotels.com...just waited on a special and locked it in one day when the price went down. If you want to eliminate any headaches I would highly recommend African Sky for any tours.

All, Thanks for info. I like the idea of already having day trips planned with a vendor, makes things a lot easier. Looking forward to getting back to Africa! Rick
