It looks as though Ontario should be thinking the same thing.

So the current story is if you are a RESIDENT of Mpumalanga (Joburg area), you can't travel out of the province for recreation, you have to have some kind of business permit. But you can transit through the province if travelling internationally. Supposedly. I would charter, not drive.

I was born in Johannesburg and lived there for 22 years but back then it was the Transvaal. So correction it is GAUTENG that is under lockdown, which is where you get off the plane, and to travel to pretty much ANY hunting area, you have to cross the provincial border, which is subject to the aforementioned conditions/restrictions. Apparently your PH can get you the necessary permit to transit the provincial border. Apparently.

Unless you are just transiting through JHB on to other areas. If you don't leave the airport, you have zero issues.
As you correctly stated, your Outfitter will sort out all the other permits required for collection from JHB Airport.
If you are flying to other areas such as the Eastern Cape, there are no extra paperwork required.

I remember learning, in the 80s, that in the Soviet Union you had to have a permit to travel anywhere out of your normal area. It struck me as a big loss of liberty .. one takes for granted that you can travel around your own country as much as you like.

I guess we are all comrades now.
