Delta changed my JNB to ATL... Check yours?
A heads up to anyone flying Delta 201 from JNB to ATL. I just received notice that my flight departure and arrival from JNB to ATL on June 10th was changed to an our later.

The modification of DL201 would give me only 1.2 hours between arrival and the next leg (ATL to JAX) and my experience is that customs (particularly with a firearm)and the train to other concourses takes longer than that even though it is withing Delta's guidelines. So... I called Delta and got the next flight, giving me 2.2 hours for the transition.

You may want to check and see if your DL 201 has been changed and if so, make sure you will make your connections.

Since Delta made the change, your requesting/booking a new flight should be at no charge. Mine wasn't.

I received the same notification this morning.

So far have not received notification of any changes on July 11....but it won't surprise me at all if it happens.

Karl:

If you have already have a close connection after arriving back in ATL to DFW, you might want to check with Delta and see about a later last leg home.

I've told a couple of non-AR guys about my change and they found out that their JNB-ATL flight was changed to one hour later. Delta hadn't notified them because they weren't signed up for the notifications and.... somehow Delta figures you can get through customs and to the new gate in less than an hour. Good luck if you are traveling with firearms.

I have found Delta is always accommodating when they switch the time.

Judge, you are right, the departure time changed due to a flight schedule change. Beginning on June 7 DL201 departs JNB at 8:25 pm (instead of 7:25 pm) and arrives ATL at 6:40 am (instead of 5:40 am). Anyone departing JNB on June 7 or after, please check your connection time in ATL. There should be no charges for requesting/rebooking on later flights due to this schedule change. Delta is in the process of notifying everyone now.

I bought my tickets around 2 months ago and the flight back from JNB on July 5th always had a departure time of 8:25pm on the schedule.

Ernest: We always allow plenty of time for our connection in Atlanta on the way home (3 1/2 hours) so hopefully we will be OK.My "travel agent" is contacting Delta this morning to verify the change.

When they change the big flight, you will have options for your connections, etc. You just need to call them if you don't like the new Iten. If I book to Africa or Alaska 6-9 months in advance, my iten usually changes 3-4 times, especially Alaska. Just call them...
