SAA IN FLIGHT ENTERTAINMENT - MOVIE/FILM SELECTION
For those of you who fly SAA if you are interested maybe we can influenece SAA's availablity of movie/film selections on those long international flights.

I would like to see some African hunting films/DVD's, eg. Hatari. King Solomon's Mines, etc, Boddington, Marc Watts.

E-mail SAA at customercare@flysaa.com.

There is strength in numbers.

Our request for Safari Hunting selection has been noted by SAA & the request has been sent to their Product Development-In-Flight Services department for consideration. (Per e-mail from SAA)

I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you; too many photo tourists v. hunters.

you would then have to hope the entertainment system worked, that flight with no movies sucks...trust me! thats why I fly delta now, it's worth the extra money!

My last flight w/delta yeilded no movies or anything. Half the consoles were not working. Aside from that, those junk earbuds they handed out wouldn't cover the engine noise. I had left my noise reduction headphones at home so before I boarded the home flight in Jo'burg, I paid $75 for another pair of NR phones. That flight had working consoles and delta did have a better selection of movies than SAA, but the food was the worse I've ever tasted on a flight, and they gave us dixie cups with water. Maybe next time will be better but as it stands, I prefer SAA but absolutely hate Dulles International. Won't go that route again if at all possible.

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

LDK,
What did you hate about Dulles? Have never flown out of there but will in August when we head for RSA on SAA. Just curious what to expect. Thanks.

Every single time we have flown to Africa via Dulles, we missed our return flight home. Last time we waited 4 hours then were sent to Chicago before we could fly home to Nashville. The TSA guys were great, no problems with them. However, the counter agents at United were nuts. None were native American's and would argue over everything:
"You can't travel with 3 guns!" I replied; "Lady, we just returned from Africa with 3 guns. Your the only problem we've ever encountered." She went to get her supervisor. This took 20 minutes, so we missed our flight. Another flight: "How much does your ammo weigh?" I replied: "Less than it did when I flew to Africa." Took 45 minutes before they checked it. We again missed our flight and had to stay there 9 hours. I could go on and on but I get pissed everytime I think about it. I now fly delta via Atlanta. I have little issue with SAA and would fly them again if they returned to Atlanta.

Cheer up. While it was years ago, when we flew up to Nairobi from Lusaka, Zambia on Kenya Air, the wings first had to be hosed down because they were leaking so much fuel.

Than we found that the hinges on the rest room were broken off so badly that they had been repaired with 50 Band-Aids.

Movies and check-in service are manageable, but I do gets antsy about basic maintenance. <g>
