Ethiopan airlines The only fly in the ointment would be using Air Canada to get to Toronto since AC charges $150 per flight for guns. If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness." - Alberta Provincial Court Judge Demetrick

I trying out Ethiopian airlines through dulles to Harare this summer. The tickets (2) cost over $2,000 less than what i could get going over on delta at that time. The only immediate potential problem i see i they do not have an official traveling with guns policy on there websight. Everyone i talk to says use the TSA regulations. I would feel better if i could get it in writing though. I have walked in the foot prints of the elephant, listened to lion roar and met the buffalo on his turf. I shall never be the same.

This would be good news, but a direct flight to Joburg would be better news. Not much advantage over a Frankfurt or London route though depending on your final destination. I just checked and according to their website Air Canada still charges $50 for guns. Has that changed and they just haven't updated their website?

Thunderhead, do what ever you can to get a copy of your Zim firearms permit before you leave and keep it with you both on your flight over and flight home. I was told in Dulles by the gate agent that they would want to see my Zambian permit before they loaded the gun case on the plane. I scrambled and had Andrew email me a copy of it but luckily I didn't need it. On the way home, however, they wanted to see it before they would put my gun on the final flight to the US in Addis Abbaba. Why they asked for my Zambian permit when I was out of Zambia heading to the US I will never know. It probably wouldn't hurt to have your GA carry permit with you in case they insist on seeing a US firearms permit. "...Africa. I love it, and there is no reason for me to explore why.
