ozhunterSAPS date of departure?
I have a date of departure but there is a good chance for an extra week or two.
Question;
Would it be best to ad a couple weeks to the South African Rifle in transit Permit or fill out date as per ticket?
Regards,
Adam
Per Henry at Rifle Permits
Yes he can just add a week or two on the permit,
he must just fill in the SAPS 520 accordingly.
This question came up during my recent trip, when I was showing my permit to the South African polica. Afton had given them a departure date that was approximately a week later than we were actually leaving for home. Once the fellow realized this, all was good. In fact, they told us that as long as you don't leave AFTER the date shown on your permit, you're good to go, but if you stay longer than your permit states, you have significant problems.
Afton was being proactive in showing a later departure date in case anything happened.

L. David KeithYes, always good to have a later date than an expired date. ALWAYS make 100% sure your departure date is correct BEFORE you leave the SAPS office. An old trick of their's was to change the date, having you late on departure date. That will cost you plenty.
