I have read hundreds of hours of great information but little relative to this. Once I get the sleeping pills (ambien) going, I expect to be in La La Land for several hours. Yeah, I trust my fellow hunters BUT what have ya'll found to be useful to secure cash, travelers checks, credit cards and etc while dreaming of buff, sable, etc.? Any help appreciated.

Hang it from your neck in a passport wallet. The strings can be tied so that a loop slips through your belt as well. Tucked inside your shirt next to your chest is about as secure as it's gonna get aside from a spy-type handcuffed-to-your-wrist sort of security. Between a T-shirt and your long sleeve khaki shirt you can deal with sweat issues. Of course the captain might like to keep it up front for ya... _______________________

Trust no humans, the living ones anyway. Jim and I also keep our tickets, itinerary, contact numbers, extra money, credit card, passport, etc. in a passport wallet. I keep mine around my neck and stuffed inside my bra. Sadly, there is ample room left in there for the wallet as well as additional items like gum and chapstick. Also, should an unlikely emergency landing and evacuation of the plane become necessary, you will have critical items on your person without having to stop by the overhead compartment and without holding up the desperate folks around you.

As stated, a neck pouch or a money belt worn inside your outer shirt is the best bet. I also have a small lock on my carry-on that gets locked whenever it's in the overhead. Mike ______________ DSC DRSS (again) SCI Life NRA Life Sables Life Mzuri IPHA "To be a Marine is enough."

I've got a 5.11 shirt that's got two pockets across the chest and under the normal pockets. They're secured by strips of velcro and large enough for cash, passports, return tickets, small children...

I divide my "stuff" between a neck wallet as described above [the things I will need to show the "officials"], and an around the waist under the clothes wallet. I never take sleeping pills while on a plane, or any other time for that matter. But because of the job I did have, retired now, I have no problems with adjusting to strange or different hour schedules. DOUBLE RIFLE SHOOTERS SOCIETY

can't say that i have ever given it any thought. maybe i have just been lucky but in 25 plus years of traveling ouTside the U.S. 2-3 times a year, i have never had a problem( although i keep my carryon under the seat in front of me for easy access). A money belt that velcros around your waist under your belt line is a good place to start. The neck wallets are good, and so are ankle wallets. Keep in mind pickpockets abound, particularly in large cities. They occasionally work in teams. Working in Africa for several years, I always wore a bush vest with inside zipper pockets. That worked well, also. I'll be wearing one the next trip over in July.

Rick, I have shirts like you described but mine have zippered pockets inside the button pockets and I carry my cash etc in those. Also when I sleep on the plane I sleep on my side sort of in a fetal position to also provide some protection. Also no pills.

Same here. Paranoia is the last of my problems whilst travelling.

I appreciate everyone chiming in here especially you Sue. Now if any of you guys on here see somewhere getting pulled out of the security check line and forced to show HIS bra to security you will know it is me or another of our astute AR members who were trolling here. Surprised by the number of you who just tough it out without the sleeping pills. I am going to try but don't expect to make it.

I have never really liked the hang around your neck stuff. A travel shirt by LL Bean, REI, or Ex Officio has all kinds of hidden, zippered pockets for your passport, money, etc etc. My last ditch security effort is a zippered belt with a color copy of my passport, $500 or so in benjamins, and a copy of my AMEX credit card number. Not a pill taker...too paranoid about inflight emergency and not being able to properly react. "Travel Shirt" w/ zipper pockets behind the regular chest pockets worked great for me. On the pills . . . I’m also not a pill taker. However, I tried it on the last trip and found it to be ineffective. I took the prescribed amount and nothing happened. I think the adrenaline coursing through my veins (because I’m terrified of flying) canceled out the medicine. On the neck wallet . . . I spent nine years working in a correctional facility and I have become accustomed to being “on guard” all the time. While the string-around-the-neck can be a liability in a bad situation, I prefer keeping my valuables skin-close when traveling. In a hunt camp the crowds will be few, but in an airport, curio shop, or any place where people get close enough to bump into me, I want my valuables in a place that a pick-pocket couldn’t get at them with a casual bump. Therefore, I use the neck wallet stuffed in my bra (my other "personal" carry-on). Eight times out of ten, I will notice someone mining inside the front of my shirt. Jim also wears a neck wallet and stuffs it into a shirt pocket that zips fully closed.

I have a small document carrier that is on a belt which I wear next to my skin under shirt and pants while on the plane. (I found mine at a website called Campmor.) I keep a small amount of money in my pocket for use in the airport and on the plane.

man if i had to jump through all the hoops on a plane that most folks here seem to do, i would just as soon stay home. a scotch to wash down a sleeping pill, then 7-8 hours of rest( and certainly not in the fetal position). i am a fairly light sleeper and i seriously doubt someone could get my wallet out of my back pocket when i am sleeping on my back. oh well, different strokes for different folks. now once i get off the plane, security tightens up. I can't sleep in coach if I ate a bottle of pills. So getting dipped while asleep on a plane is moot. I have a Patagonia travel sport jacket with two inside zipper pockets that I used to move copious quantities of cash to offshore contract supervisors during my company work. Used to put it in the overhead rack and never lost a dollar. A very ordinarly looking thing that you can wad up and stuff in a crack between bags and it pops right out. Hide in plain sight.
