I recommend that western travellers who go through Johannesburg, take a few hours and take a guided tour to Soweto. It's where the world was changed. Africa Sky can arrange for a very informative guide named Ted to take you in a nice Mercedies van. Also. pleae see the movie or read the book."The Bang Bang Club." The Aparthied museum will blow you away and you don't need a guide. Brian IHMSA BC Provincial Champion and Perfect 40 Score, Unlimited Category, AAA Class.

Years ago I went on a tour of Soweto, but it was on a couple of patrols with the SAP. It was a real eye opener. What I saw and experienced however, was a far cry from what was being fed to us over here by the media. I'll leave it at that. ______________________________________________ The power of accurate observation is frequently called cynicism by those who are bereft of that gift.

Skyline, Yes. Good point. That is what the "Bang Bang Club story shows. My wife and I were first there in 2007, before the government got everything looking good for the world soccer games. There still is lots to see and learn. Still some "old" Soweto. It is sobering to see. The Hecter Pietersen Memeorial Museum is also good to see in Soweto. The guide, Ted, will go there.
