Going back to Zim in August.
Is Emirates viable getting to HRE? About to book SAA again, Dulles-JNB-HRE, just exploring alternatives. Does overnighting in Dubai cause problems with guns like in Joberg?

I sure hope so! Travel With Guns has me booked in June for Boise to Seattle to Harare. SEA to Dubai and an overnight, then Dubai to Lusaka to Harare the next morning. They recommended Emirates.

Steve at travel with Guns is working on my ticket now. I've used Delta for 10-12 flights over and now it has a 1000+$ price increase so it is Emirates to SA, then SAA up to Zim, and Emirates home.
Can't wait to see new things.

I'm going to Harare in July with Emirates. My first time on Emirates. For me, from Auckland NZ, it's longer flight times than with Air NZ, then SAA but I'm expecting a more comfortable, enjoyable flight. I have no issues with Air NZ but having traveled twice on SAA I'm ready to try something else. Economy class seating on the SAA Airbus ain't exactly the most comfortable and the flight attendants are only going through the motions in providing fairly lacklustre cabin service.

Hunting.... it's not everything, it's the only thing.

I guess I spent so many years flying "economy web seating" on C130s, C141s and C5s that just about any commercial airline is OK for me LOL!

Seriously 5 out of 6 trips to Africa have been SAA and I've never had anything to complain about. The one flight was Emirates and I admit it is a great airlines..

I pretty much fly to an from Europe or Asia 6-8 times a year on business and YES - I fly the dreaded United Airlines most of the time, still with no complaints - especially if I fly Polaris Business class..

Maybe I'm just lucky....

Hey Marty,

Diann and I have made the Sacramento-Seattle-Dubai-Harare trip twice. Long, but the best way to go IMO. Only problem with guns in Dubai was on the first trip, when our flight from Harare was late and the guns didn't make it on the Dubai to Seattle flight. I had to pick them up at SFO the next day. A bit of a pain!

Book with Steve at Travel w/guns BOS - HRE saved a bunch on two tickets. Rode on 777's seating config in coach is 3-4-3 except for the last 3 rows the go 2-4-2 for an extra $25 if you can book yourself in there.
