Aldi Schoeman, Die Burger
Cape Town - Western Cape residents have been warned to prepare for snow, cold and heavy rain on Friday.

"You can feel it becoming colder when you stand outside," said Annie Kendrick of Sutherland on Thursday.

The temperature at her home was 12.5°C at 17:30 on Thursday. "It dropped by almost 2°C over the past hour and it is still dropping."

But Kendrick said it "didn't look like snow".

Snowfall

According to the South African Weather Service, the expected maximum temperature on Friday in this Northern Cape town was 7°C and the minimum temperature was 3°C.

Snow could possibly have fallen on Thursday evening in the Hex River Mountains, the Cederberg, Worcester Mountains, Koue Bokkeveld and Sutherland.

Very cold and wet conditions were also expected, with maximum temperatures in some places not expected to exceed 10°C.

Leslie Abrahams of the farm Kleinjongenskraal near the Sneeuberg Mountains said it looked like there would be snow. "It is bitterly cold and I would like to sit in front of the fireplace all the time."

It was 8°C shortly before 18:00 on Thursday evening and becoming colder. It looked like it was about to rain.

Wow, wish i was there. You could track Kudu in snow, like we do elk! It also would make them easier to see.
