So it looks like there are no flights from Dubai directly to Harare.. Is going thru Lusaka best?

Leaving Dulles Oct 9th for Tuskless hunt and trying to decide best flight option...

As far as I know there has never been a direct flight from Dubai to Harare, the Emirates flight has always stopped in Lusaka. There is no change of plane, you sit on the ground in Lusaka (on the plane you do not de-board) for a little over an hour and then take off again. The flight from Lusaka to Harare is roughly 40 minutes. The plane usually does not even climb more than 22,000-25,000 feet for that leg.

excellent! Thanks guys!

That was what I was hoping.. I was more worried about moving luggage and guns between planes in Lusaka than anything else...

Now I just need to call steve turner - October will be here before I know it :-)

Speaking of luggage. If your connection in Dubai is such that you overnight in Dubai (the flight to Lusaka/Harare is around 9:30 am), you do not claim your luggage in Dubai. It is checked straight through to Harare from the U.S. You take a change of clothes, etc. in your carry on bag. Good choice to go with Steve, he knows the Emirates drill very well.

Emirates is the way to go. my second on a good choice to book with Travel
With Guns Steve knows the ropes . Emirates is head and shoulders over the other Airlines. The hotel that they put you up in is first class great food . I am taking that rout on 23 May.

Emirates prices are as cheap as I have ever seen them. Round trip Boston to Dar es Salaam cost me $986. Previously the same trip had always cost $1500+.
