I've managed my entire life to avoid most big cities, the exception while traveling through their airports. On our return home from hunting this year we will be forced to overnight in a NYC hotel before flyting home the next morning. Looking for safe clean rest without trouble. It would be a bonus if it is reasonably priced!

Which airport in NYC? JFK is on the south side of Long Island, La Guardia on the north side of Long Island, and Newark is across the Hudson River in Jersey. They are all a fair piece from one another and Manhattan.

Well, obviously our AR guys in NYC can tell you more. I do know that near JFK there is a Hilton, a Hilton Garden Inn, and a Hampton Inn. JFK is about 15 miles from Manhattan. But going 15 miles in New York City is a lot different than 15 miles in North Dakota or Alabama.

Are you leaving your guns with the airline, are they checked through to your final destination, or are you taking them to the hotel?

NYC has some onerous gun restrictions and they're always eager to punish you for traveling through their borders.

Sounds like the best plan would be to check them through to home if it is an option. If not, what is my next best choice? Can I leave them in a storage facility at the airport overnight? Taking long guns with me is a problem?
