Just as a precaution, I went to the SAA website to check baggage requirements. In particular to intra-Africa flight between South Africa and Zimbabwe on SA Airlink. Buried in the information was a requirement that to take a firearm on the Airlink flights you are required to get pre-approval at least 3 days in advance. On my last trip to Zim, a PH handled the Jo'burg to Zim flight and so I wasn't aware of this requirement. I sent them an e-mail to see if I could get approval that way, but I might have to call. How have others handled this requirement? I am flying Delta to Jo'burg BTW and booked the Airlink flight separately. Thanks. BH63 Hunting buff is better than sex!

Travel agent did it for me on Airlink. I had to do that myself with BA, for my international flight from the USA. Just call South African Airways more then 3 days in advance, and when again to confirm that the transport has been approved. Also Airlink you can't tell what there policy is with ammo. My JNB to SIS flight they wanted the ammo in the suitcase. On the return flight they wanted the ammo separate.

I e-mailed Airlink and they took care of it for me. I made a copy of the confirmation just in case. Hunting buff is better than sex!
