A federal court in the Eastern District of New York has just ruled that the government must have probable cause and obtain a warrant to force you to unlock your electronic devices upon entering the country. For years, the Feds have been forcing people to unlock their phones, tablets and computers as a condition of entry/reentry into the US. Right now, this ruling only applies in the Eastern District of New York (which includes JFK and La Guardia airports) and does not set precedent. But, if the government appeals it, it would be settled by the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit Frank "I don't know what there is about buffalo that frightens me so.....He looks like he hates you personally. You lot are living in cuckoo land! The NSA already looks at everything electronic you use. You THINK you have rights. Carry on dreaming. A while back the FBI made such a fuss trying to access a locked iPhone. We have shops here that will unlock it for you in a few minutes! You are are being brainwashed that government cannot access anything they wish on the Internet! | |||
