wow - just got one for my two rifles and two sets of shooting sticks. These things are big. Nice. I am using the same case - just packed two Remington 700's, Primos Trigger Stick, and some small cleaning items. Whole package weighed in at 43 lbs. with two small locks on it.

I used Pelican cases for years. They are a good case but are very heavy. Mine is overweight with a Sharps and accessories. If you need another one, look at the SKB cases. They are just as tough and a lot lighter. I have used a couple SKB cases a lot the past year.

Bob, I could be wrong but you better check your scale. I took two Steyr (granted with big euro optics) sticks, mags, clenaing kit etc and tipped the scale at 69lbs just under the 70 for sporting equip. Great case and great protection but definately heavy. Did this because 2 years prior I had an elevation turret dented in a Storm 3300 with a similar setup. That was a little too close for me.

I stand corrected, my case is the Pelican 1700. Granted, I am using faily inexpensine luggage scales, as well.

Which airline is this? I'm under the assumption the Gun Case has the same weight requirements as the checked bag?

larrys01 I believe you are correct. The only difference in weight allowed is the class ticket you buy. First Class is 88 pounds per bag Cargo Cattle like I fly is 50 pounds. Larry

Maybe I've been lucky, but i read the Firearms and Ammunition section and Sporting equipment section on FLYSAA. Specifically the following link: https://www.flysaa.com/Journey...ortingEquipment.html and see that an additional 20 lbs is allowed for sporting equip. Maybe I was lucky, but I've not been charged either time that I transported firearms in hard cases over 50 lbs.

I read this as 20Kg (45 lbs?) for an additional checked bag with no additional charge. "Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult."
