Just wanted to share a couple of tips that I've been using the last few times I've been travelling, both with and without firearms. 1. Consider scanning and emailing to yourself copies of any documents that you want to be able to access virtually anywhere. Examples would be copies of the information pages of your passport, 4457's, visas, reservation confirmations, or any other documents that you consider important. If you lose the originals or copies you can access them again by printing them from your email. Obviously not applicable once in the bush but if you have problems any hotel business center or internet cafe can probably provide access. If you have a smart phone you can open the email and .pdf attachments prior to leaving and have an extra copy on your phone as well. 2. When checking luggage I've started taking a picture of the bag and also the luggage tag on my phone so that if anything goes missing it is easy to see which bag tags go with which bags and it also helps when filling out lost luggage paperwork when you're trying to remember exactly what your bag looked like. There are obviously many more travel tips but in discussing travelling with quite a few other people the above two tips were often overlooked.

FoR US hunters traveling abroad keep a copy of your 4457 in your rifle case. If you get seperated from your case like I did due to a medical emergency it makes claiming/getting your rifle back a whole lot easier as when customs cuts their way into the case the proper paperwork it available for them to check. Like David, I keep my 4457s with the guns to which they refer. I take copies with me, but the originals stay with the gun(s)in a zip lock bag taped to the inside of the gun case. 114-R10David
