We are going to the Limpopo region of RSA in July of 2009 (I know it is a long way off). We will be hunting for PG for 10 days and have 12 days total in camp. This will be our first trip to Africa so the wife and kids are going and have many side trips planned while I hunt. My question is where to go as we want to spend an additional 4-5 days near the ocean. We are open to any suggestions.

You'll be a far piece from the ocean so get back to j-berg, fly to Richards Bay on the Indian Ocean. These flights are cheap. Hire a guide/driver for the days and first drive north to Imfolozi National Park and spend a night. Yes, you've seen animals before but this place is really cool. Then head for Pongola Reserve and make your base camp at Mvubu Lodge. Sunset cruises on the Pongola dam, tigerfish fishing, great accom and good meals, a spa for the ladies, etc. Use Mvubu as your base and head for Greater St. Lucia Wetland park and/or Sodwanan Bay National Park. Tembe Elephant Reserve is within striking diatnce, too. I had friends do this very trip this past June and loved it so much they are going back next year. If you want more info, contacts and the like, PM me, please, as in a short two hours I'm heading back into the woods for 8 days. Dan Donarski Hunter's Horn Adventures Sault Ste. If you want "hustle and bustle" of the city Durban is nice. Personally I would prefer Kwazulu Natal further north. There are nice lodges near Hluhluwe. This spring I hunted on Fumuze (sp) and it was very nice and near Falsa Bay. There are some very nice places down on the Eastern Cape near Kenton or Port Alfred. Grahamstown is near with good shopping and there is a hugh festival there in July but I don't know just when.
