Just set appt to get new 4457's and went on website to fill and print and VOILA!
They have an print/effective date of 5/24 - OK
But in top left there is an expiration date of Sept 24. Does anybody know what this is all about? I think we're going backwards.
I did call back the CBP Officer and ask and he said they are questioning it. He said it could be because they are going to have major change come Sept.

Noticed that too and wondered about those flying near that date? Of course the instructions on Customs web page say "The form remains valid for re-importation of the registered articles for as long as the document is legible." But I expect inconsistency with Government agencies, that's how they flex their admin. muscles.

Exactly!

Because some idiot in a foreign country will make an issue of it.

easy fix, print the form out then very nicely white out the expiration date and copy the page. no one will know anything and SAPS will not even look at it
