Does one need to check their guns only to J'Burg then a separate ticket on to Zim? Is the Brit ban still in effect? thanks, jorge

Yes it is still in effect.

I'd advise you to have your tickets done in two lots. One to take you to Johannesburg and another, separate set of tickets from Johannesburg onto Zim etc. That way the check in agents will assume you're terminating in SA. Wink

Perhaps I have missed something and screwed up.

The last two trips (second of which completed last week) to Zim I have checked my bag and guns straight through from Dulles to Bulawayo via Joburg. Had my carry on with change of clothes while overnite at Afton Guest House. Same deal coming back. No SAPS permit hastles and all arrived both sides with no problems.

Just my experience.

Donald,

No, you haven't. It's just that the UK or more accurately, the EEC have an arms embargo to Zimbabwe that includes sporting firearms.

I stand to be corrected Steve but I think it is just the UK government in it's infinate wisdom that has taken this line. It's to do with spares for the Hunter jets we sold Mugabe when he was still slightly sane.

No mate. The EEC all voted for the arms embargo but most of the other countries have the common sense not to apply it to sporting firearms.

The Brits however, under the namby pamby, politically correct, spineless Labour arseholes in general and that turncoat prick, Gordon Brown and before him, that other wanker Tony Blair in particular, decided to include ALL firearms in the ban.

Other than that I quite like the Labour Gvt. rotflmo

spend your money and route your trips carefully. Flying with any airline/country that is anti firearms does not need my business dollars.
I flew straight thru on SAA last year and just skipped all the BS in Joberg.

Thanks, Steve I was prety sure that was still the case but wanted to make sure. Some good friends of mine from Dallas are going to Zim next summer and their travel agent was going to book them straight through to Vic Falls on BA and I told them that was not the way to go. As always, for all things Africa, AR is the place to ask. And yes 700s for DG SUCK. jorge Smiler

Steve, Gordon Brown ... sounds as though you like that one-eyed bastard as much as me. Tony Blair - now there is a guy with a face I could never tire of punching.

I reckon they're incapable of making a single correct, ethical honest decision about absolutely anything and I wouldn't trust the fuckers to run my dog, let along run a country. Everything they do or try to do they fuck up completely.

Whilst the list of their catastrophies is endless, I reckon the two biggest are the private pensions which have buggered the financial future of an entire generation and supporting the banks (who appear to have promptly pocked the cash and done bugger all to stimulate the economy with it) during the recent economic crash.

And that goes without even considering their immigration policies!

I get angry just thinking about the useless pair of tossers. Roll Eyes

I wonder why the words Blair, Brown and Labour make me want to say fuck so fucking often! rotflmo

Mate, the best single thing I ever did in my entire life was to get out of that shithole of political correctness and mediocrity........ every time I go back there, I feel like a stranger in a strange land.

My only regret is that I didn't leave 25 years earlier. Eeker
