I just received a message from my outfitter indicating that there are problems obtaining a import/export permit for my firearm when I'm scheduled to land in Lusaka. We are then transiting to Moz to hunt.

Anyone know about any permitting problems in Zam? This is the first I've heard of it.

Bwana91,

I've had hunters go to Zambia and return this season plus I have more going in. There have been no issues with gun permits.

Sounds like the issue may be that you are not hunting in Zambia. Are you staying in transit or entering Zambia?
Your outfitter should be able to resolve this for you. But there is no problem importing a firearm into Lusaka, Zambia with proper permits.

Not hunting in Zambia. Outfitter picking me up in Lusaka and then we travel to Mozambique to hunt. Returning 10 days later to fly back to Joburg out of Lusaka.

Ok, that's probably the problem. Maybe Mark Young can provide a suggestion to getting an import permit without a local outfitter obtaining it for you and just transmitting.

Any Zambian outfitters here in AR with suggestions?

Your Moz outfitter should have foreseen this problem! Hope he got your Moz permit in order!

I hate these last minute kinks!

You may find yourself hunting with a camp gun!

Sorry you got this at the last minute. Doesn't sound good!

Jeez, that's a roundabout way to get to and from Michigan to Moz. Good luck!!!

Lets us be fair ladies and gentlemen.

One cannot enter most countries with a firearm without a permit.

Hunting in one country but having to land, enter, and drive in another country is asking for trouble.

Unless one takes this into consideration ahead of time and get all the required permits.
