Just curious who you guys prefer…

I’m looking for an annual membership for upcoming trips to Mozambique and Cameroon. Specifically, I’m looking at the medical and security evacuation coverage. I’ve purchased short term plans from both in the past and thankfully did not need to use those services. It seems like I’ve read good and bad about both on AR in the past so I was looking for some more recent information.

I have always purchased Global Rescue.

The point being, is that I have not needed to use their services.

I have not hunted the countries that you are looking to go to. however, I have been looking at Mozambique.

Next year I have 2 trips in the works to South Africa and Zimbabwe. however considering adding a 3rd leg to Namibia.

I switched to GR years ago. Shortly thereafter, my kids and I went to Argentina . My kids got deathly ill.

I decided to call GR. In less than 5 minutes they had a paramedic on the phone . In less than a half hour , they had a specialist from Johns Hopkins on the phone . They told me which hospital to go to and exactly what to have done . They had a plane ready to fly them back .

I was quite happy .

PA Guardian,

Might want to consider Alianz Global Assistance thru Gracy Travel. Shawn at Gracy Travel can help you figure out what plan works best for you. They sell all the well known travel insurances but Shawn has recommended Alianz for our last two trips.

Thanks Mark! I'll take a look. That is an option I was unaware of...

I would definitely give RipOFF a wide berth. I hate to keep harping on this sketchy company but they denied a small claim (economy round trip ticket) for my son when he fell ill 3 days before departure on our June / July 2019 hunt with CMS.

We purposefully disclosed to RipOFF that we were purchasing this coverage for my son as he had had the issue a couple of years earlier and we wanted to guard against it reoccurring near departure time. RipOFF assured us he would be covered, then denied the claim once it was filed. More details can be found by searching my name with this company in the 2019 timeframe if you care to research further.

We will NEVER do business with Ripcord ... I mean RIPOFF again.

YMMV

I'm so sorry to hear that Todd. Now that you bring it up, I recall your posts about your experience with Ripcord from a few years back. I think I'm headed the direction of Global Rescue...

GR took care of my buddy when he busted/badly bruised his ribs in RSA a couple of years ago. 3 days hosp stay and they tried to upgrade him to Biz on the way home but it was full so he had to suffer up in 1st class. GR is good.
that said, I bought alianz from Gracy for upcoming trip. Hope I don't need them.

I don’t know if it matters but GR has an age limit.

I've always bought one or the other and never had to use either. You'll never know which is best unless you've made a claim with each. That would make you a very unlucky person.
