Next week I fly to Johannesburg on Emirates out of New York through Dubai. My problem is that I am taking my 13 teen year old son and all the guns because of State restriction are of course in my name as he is a minor. I am bringing a 300WSM, 270 Win and an Over/Under 12 Gauge. I have done my pre-register through Dubai. But they tell you 11bs of Ammunition per person. Well the guns are registered in my name. I can’t get under 11bs… with 40 rounds of each and a box of #2's, I am already at 13.5 lbs..And I dint take any shells for upland. Will this be a problem? Anyone have any history on weighing my ammunition case?

BearC I've only flown Emmerates once NY to Dub and on this has been several years ago The folks at emmerates didn't seem to worry much. They might have asked how much ammo and I responded "under 11 lbs." and that was that. They werent concerned about guns, I have to remind them.

BC: Seeing the two of you are traveling together, the airlines will consider the total weight allowance and IMO shouldn't be bothered about the guns being registered in your name. Had you been on your own I guess the 11lbs. (5kgs.) would hold true.

We travel alot through Emirates and never thought this as an issue. When ever some one ask we replied "ah we don't know but should be around 8 to 9lbs" and no one ask any further question. Ahmed Sultan
