Can I carry ammo in a locked box within my Tuffpak, or must I put it in a separate checked bag? Or is there a better way to pack ammunition? I don’t really want to take two bags, but will do what I must. I’m flying DFW to Doha to Windhoek and vice versa.

We’ve flown that an similar routes on Qatar and have had to put ammo in a separate piece of luggage. Not in same luggage as rifle. Also, be aware you have to obtain permission from the airline to carry firearms and ammo prior to departure date, must be in their booking system and is really easy to do.

I’ve called their listed customer service number twice and it was busy both times. Is there a super secret way to get an approval for firearm transport?
