Before my hunt in Eastern Cape I rented a house in Cape Town on the beach for a week or so...any reason besides being cautious? Uber and other transportation before my PH shows up.

I have not used Uber in Cape Town, but be cautious with the taxis. Quite a few have been implicated in crimes.

You call a taxi and they call their friends that you will be out of the house for awhile. You can figure out the rest.

Uber might be a little more legit as you have a lot more informaiton on your driver. However, it is best not to get picked up in front of your house for obvious reasons.

Use ueber all the time in Jhb and CT both business and pleasure.

Cheap, pretty reliable and lots of cars.

I always check the license tag and the face picture and ask the drivers name before getting in - but I do that most places anyhows.

Used Uber exclusively in CT, never took a taxi. When I was there most of the divers were Zimbabweans. All nice cars financed by Uber.
