I was researching a book my friend has of the art of Frederich Remington. The book can be had for <$10. I guess they printed a lot of them. I've seen print/pages from books framed and sold at gun shows etc... What can you do to a magazine or book page to preserve it before framing it? Note: I'm NOT selling stuff. This is for my eventual office/inner sanctum

For my antique map collection, where some specimens are over 400 years old, I don’t do anything for the paper itself. There are things you can do to when framing to extend the life of your pages. 1. It is imperative to use acid free matting. 2. There are different types of glass you can use. I use museum glass (available at framing or hobby shops). This reduces the amount of UV rays that reach the document and provides a superior (less reflective) view of what is inside the frame. 3. Hang the finished frame so that direct sunlight never falls on your paper. I hope this helps. Mike

Fairgame, Agreed, but with a caveat. Please ensure the framer has experience with paper that is sensitive to light exposure. Paper images from the 19th to 21st centuries are especially at risk since paper quality has actually declined.

Most important, don't put it in direct sunlight, the less the better. Grizz When the horse has been eliminated, human life may be extended an average of five or more years. James R. Doolitle I think they've been misunderstood. Timothy Tredwell
