ghostbirdAfrican Dreams - Decorative Turkey Calls
This is a decorative set of Turkey Calls that I made and entered in the 2011 NWTF Grand National Turkey Callmaking Competition last week. The set won First Place for Matched Set and the Best of Class award.
Andy Cobb
Matched set of calls made from African woods and the horns of various African ringed horn antelope. The calls are made using figured Black Limba, Gaboon Ebony, Antelope horn, Brass, and Elephant Ivory. The set consists of a Limba double side box call, a single side Blesbuck horn box call, a Springbok horn scratchbox call, a Gemsbok horn owl hooter, a Springbok horn crow call, and a Blesbuck horn chalkbox. The set also includes a pair of Impala horn trumpet calls; one with a carved Ivory wingbone mouthpiece and the other has a mouthpiece made from a Porcupine Quill with an Ivory tip. The set is housed in a Zebrawood display box featuring Wenge pegs.

L. David KeithAndy, those were the most beautiful Turkey calls I have ever seen. I had full intentions of taking those home with me but I had to excuse myself for a few moments and when I returned, they had sold. Someone got a great set that no doubt will be a super investment. Congrats on your win my friend, you deserved it! Good to see you again, David

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

safari-lawyerFantastic Andy. Well deserved. You are a renaissance man. You care if I ask what those sold for?
Want to come to Nebraska and bust some Merriams with me, Tim Herald, and others? I think there's one spot left.

L. David KeithGuys, the pics Andy posted are excellent, but you would have to see those calls to appreciate the high quality work he put into them. Each piece was a work of true art.
