only watched 10 sec of the video and he handed a loaded rifle off to his buddy- bad! I don't give 2 hoots about the safety being on. Very bad form.

On the other hand, Joe Smithson loaned me one of his synthetic stocked rifles for an entire season and I was tempted to buy it. At full price since Joe is a custom maker and every single rifle he builds represents a substantial portion of his income.

It was a GMA Mauser G33/40 action, with Joe’s wonderful scope mounts and built using his synthetic stock made in a slim English style.

Joe and his son Brett are at the top of their game

I saw nothing wrong with that. First of all, I have watched several videos on hunting in Africa and the gun bearer always hands a loaded rifle to either the client or the PH. When I was teaching both my daughters how to shoot, I would load the gun, put the safety on and then hand it to them. Seems if you are trying to teach gun safety, you shouldn't give a first time shooter an empty gun, some ammo and tell them to load it and then shoot, especially if it is one the first times they have handled a firearm. I was 5 years old the first time I shot my Dad's duty weapon, a 2" Colt Agent loaded with 148 wadcutter target ammo. He handed it to me loaded and I proceded to shoot the two rounds that were in it. I could never imagine him handing me his Colt and a couple of loose rounds and telling me to load it. It may just be me.

I have hunted with and known Ron for decades and have never known him to be careless with loaded guns.

I'm sure the video was fully scripted, but the insinuation that it was clever to tell a shooter that he was shooting a .22 hornet and then surprise him with a 404 Jeff was not appropriate in my opinion.

Smithson builds some incredible rifles. I really enjoyed seeing it. Yes, the opening was a little scripted. I doubt the other guy was surprised. No harm in it in my opinion.
