Hey Guys,

Had the rare opportunity to handle a truly beatutiful slug gun today.

On my way to the range this afternoon, I stopped off at the Griffin & Howe shop to drop off one of my custom Mauser 98's which is in need of minor repair.

While there Mel and I ended out in a conversation with the Jim Knomka discussing hunting trips and custom rifles. It was a real pleasure speaking with Jim and we ended out spending the better part of two hours talking and eventually exchanging email addresses etc.

While in the shop, Jim took the time to share with me just a few of the many guns in the shops incredible collection. After physically handling an amazing amount of fine rifles, and double shotguns and double rifles, I can unquestionably say there was one gun in particular that really left me speechless...Just by chance, it also happened to be an incredible slug gun! (I have been an avid rifled slug gun collector, and shooter, for years.)

The gun is an absolutely mint, near 100% condition, W.J. Jeffery Side by Side Double Barrel 8 Bore Hammer gun. The gun weighs 17lbs 8oz with a 24 1/4" Barrel length and features a post front and open rear sight.

For anyone that has not already been there, I highly recommend stopping in the shop. Unquestionably there are very few other places in the world where a person of average means can walk into a shop, and actually physically handle such a wide variety of world class firearms while being treated so graciously by the stores staff!

JC

More pictures and info of the gun can be seen on this page..

There is something about a gun that shoots golf ball sized projectiles that makes me happy... Nice gun for sure!

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.

NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.

I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.
