Barrel contours
Has anyone used a LW Art 718 barrel for a custom 98? If you have used one or a similar barrel on a project could you please post some pictures?

Here is a 722 contour on my 9.3X64 B.
Hope it helps.

And here's the 718 mentioned in the other thread. It's mine, a 9.3x62 built on a 1940 K98 Mauser action. Barrel is 23 inches long.

Thank you for the pictures. The more I think about it the Art 718 might be larger than what I am looking for. I was originally thinking I would go 8mm but purchased an intermediate length 98 and will likely chamber it in 7x57mm (or is it only cool if we call it 275 Rigby these days?). I am thinking a Shilen #1 might look more appropriate?

Since you mentioned it. Here is a Shilen #2 on a Mexican Mauser action in 7X57. The barrel is 26" and made a nice slim, accurate and light rifle. Also the first rifle that I built myself.

I am building my 7x57 with a Douglas #2 that I had cut to octagon. It should work nicely for a light rifle.
