G&H stocked by the looks of it.

Somebody got a hell of a deal! I already have a 99 Savage in .300 Savage, but I would have bought it in a heartbeat.

Fore end to long and to fat I much prefer the slim original savage for ends.

Actually Savage 99's came with both styles depending on the model. The one pictured has the lines of a 99T.

Hmmmm, more like a 99R or RS signifying a peep sight installed at the factory...

I also much prefer the lines of a 1892 take down or the 1950s 99F of which I have both and have custom stocked a number of 99s leaning to the 99F and 99EG, more or less.

I wouldn't swear its a G&H, but it follows their pattern, they never have cut enough wood off a stock, but that was the norm back in the day..Those old boys didn't want to waste wood! barf

I passed on a .25-35 Winchester Model 99 Savage recently....it was under $700 and in excellent shape.....should I have grabbed it?

Did anyone notice the address of the seller? Oyster Bay, NY, where Teddy Roosevelt's home, Sagamore Hill, is located. Strange coincidence.

Incidentally, the house is open to the public, and is well worth visiting. A lot of TR's hunting trophies are on display.

That is a Win. sight, usually used with the addition of a receiver sight as both will lie flat and not interfere with the peep. The yardage marking is unusual and may be a later add on as its easily done. Nice gun. A 99 in 25-35, 38-55, and to a slightly lesser degree a 22 HI Power, 250-3000 in any figuration in any reasonable condition is worth $700. If you buy it and can't sell it, call me..
