For my Ruger No. 1 build I am looking for the following...

A. A barrel band sling keeper.

B. A much nicer safety.

I found a barrel band front sight at Brownell's. I've seen these and they would work. I'm wearing out the computer looking for the above.

Help and suggestions????

Thanks,

Dick Wright

Check out New England Custom gun. They have a straight ramp banded front sight base. It is much more classic than the "Materpiece" series with the radius style ramp - I never understood those things. You're almost guaranteed a glare on that radius. Look under the "Special Items" tab.

Here is a link to the straight ramp front sight:

They have barrel bands too, but if I like Talley's better - Midway has them. They're a little more low-profile than NECG.

I've pretty much stopped using Brownell's. The web site is too difficult to navigate & you have to know EXACTLY what they call it for it to come up in a search.

The Trop safety is THE safety for the Ruger single shots. I just received mine. It is very well made, attractive, and effective. They are made by Trop Elite Equipment. They have a website you can order directly from. I went to the website and the only way I could find the safety was to do a search for "Ruger". The product page does not even include a picture. Nevertheless, you can order directly from their website and delivery is fast.

I have used the Trop Ruger #1 safety on three #1's. An easy installation that's worth the time and money.

nice picture of the #1. I like the way they cut away the right side to facilitate loading, and the case hardening is very well done.

I hadn't noticed the cutaway, Rich. I wonder how that effects strength.
