A fancy working rifle for a serious Buff hunter. This 500 Jeffery is based on a Standard Model 98, Lothar Walther barrel machined from 1- 1/2" blank, finished off at 20 inches. My bottom metal, wood from Roger Vardy. Engraving was shown earlier by Roger Kehr.

Weighs in at 11 lbs, 6 oz, empty. Recoil is pretty manageable, no muzzle climb. My grandsons wanted to shoot it when in the white..They asked a couple friends and all were eager...I was happy to oblige! Six of us shot this rifle. all had complete control after the shot, making a follow up very easy.

Duane

When building a rifle with serious recoil like this one, do you use any glass bedding for extra strength?

Craftsman: Ha...No roasting today!! Never could see the wisdom of having plastic between wood and metal.

The wood chosen here is very hard and dense. Just inlet it tight...maybe even tighter.

The short video is of my 18 yr old grandson...At 6-3 and 160, he soaks up recoil like a bamboo fly rod

Unusual checkering treatment. Flat top with flur de dudes, and a kinda non traditional border. Makes for a truly one of a kind rifle. Nice!

Been asked about the burnt trees! This is the Grizzly Flat area of El Dorado Co, N. Ca.

Wiped out thousands of acres last year...many, many homes lost.
Was once beautiful.

A friend works for the Forest Service and has claimed for years if the politicians just got out of the way, these kind of fires would be at least minimized

Wow! If you are going to build a thumper you might as well make it a stunner. Well done Duane.
