A bit bored here atm so I thought I'd throw up a few pics of a rifle that has just had some work completed here in Oz.
Sorry to the purists that I've put a euro calibre on a US made rifle Eeker Wink

Rifle began as a classic model 70 in 25-06 and I decided that an easy change would be the 9.3x62.
Rifle had already been bedded, grip cap fitted and inletted sling swivels.
A Lother Walther 23" barrel was fitted with Reckneagle front sight with flip up ivory bead and express rear sight with a shallow "v" regulated for 75m.
Bolt release lever was also built up and checkered.
Aussie buffalo horn forend tip was fitted along with an additional Talley cross bolt.
It was all finished off with a nice rust blue finish. All up I'm very pleased with the outcome tu2

Sorry but my photography skills aren't great.....

Cheers,
Mark.

Most people are not aware that both Remington and Ruger made runs of rifles chambered in 7x64. Remington's policy is to always offer ammunition for rifles they make. They offered 7x64 ammo with their 140gr and 175gr 7mm bullets. It is not too difficult to find if you look for it.

Very nice rifle.

Mark,

There does not appear much to apologize for about that rifle. I like it and bet you do also. More pictures, eh?

The model 70 had been made in both 7mm and 9mm mauser (factory production).

FISH!!

Heed the words of Winston Smith in Orwell's 1984:

"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right."

Try to look unimportant. Your enemy might be low on ammo.

No I didn't do the work. A local Aussie gunsmith did all the work for me.

Mark.

Nice, nice rifle. I put mine together on an FN in 2000 for a trip to Africa in 2002. Worked like a champ with the old original 250 gr Barnes X on most plains game from springbuck to eland. We will be doing a familiy trip back there in June and my oldest son has claimed the 9.3. This time loaded with the 250 gr Accubond.

I sold a pre war mod. 70 in mint condition for $65.00 Guess how long ago that was! CRYBABY

If you can find one, the new Ruger Hawkeye African in 9.3x62 is one awesome rifle, lean and mean, points like a Boss shotgun and my new one is super accurate..I screwed up and sold the two Huskvarna 1930 9.3x62s that I had..but hey that happens all the time around here, no rifle lasts long if I get in a trade mood.. shocker
