I've had a Brno ZKK 602 for awhile. Only thing done to it was:

1) three position safety
2) filler in the slot left when rear sight removed.
3) awful original trigger replaced with handmade single stage trigger.
4) awful 1977 original stock reshaped (at the comb and cheekpiece) and stained.

It's in .375 H&H so a good all-around truck gun that fits me perfectly. I won't cry if the stock gets scratched, or worse.

Ed Labour 3 position safety.

Filler in rear sight base. I do not understand why anyone would leave the leaf sight on this gun when there is a perfectly adequate pop-up sight. Besides, the rear leaf sight masks part of the front sight when using the pop-up sight.

Eric Briano did the trigger, safety and rear sight filler work. Patrick Brunet reshaped and stained the stock for me. The handmade trigger, by the way, is very good. In the end, the modifications cost more than the rifle, but I went to top riflesmiths and you get what you pay for.

WARNING! I DID NOT HAVE A TILT SHIFT VIEW CAMERA HANDY SO SOME PORTIONS OF THE IMAGES WILL NOT BE IN CRITICAL FOCUS, ONLY THE ITEM BEING DESCRIBED. Fact is, I just put the rifle on backyard table in very harsh middle of the day light and used an old Nikon D7000 with its 18-105 kit lens. I regret any mental anguish this may cause the viewer. In post-processing I lightened up the dark areas for ease of viewing. In real life the stock is darker and the blueing is deep. Any bright areas are not due to wear, just my laziness in post-processing.

I can shoot small pie plate accuracy with the pop-up sight with no problem and could probably do better with a different front sight post. Haven't yet put it on a rest with a scope to see what the intrinsic accuracy is.

I thought y'all knew what a truck looks like.

I couldn't find a bluetooth radio that would fit in-dash on the Peugeot 403 so had to let it go.

I don't know what they sell for, forgot to ask since I was at the dealership for maintenance on a Class E. There is only one engine option in France at this point (250D being a diesel). Online prices are 43K to 52K depending on options, which includes the 20% VAT so its the keys in hand price and I think they are all 4X4, no 2-wheel-drive available.

I did ask about the engine. It's one of those engines with parts and assembly requiring three different countries to get it done, including the USA. Something about logistics, Mercedes collaboration with Nissan and probably a little taxes/duties optimization at work. Not a single person at the dealership could tell me exactly what happens and where before it gets on their lot. So, while it looks like a Mercedes branded rice-burner, it would take a research project to find out.

.375H&H works fine on pickups, but not nearly enough for 18 wheelers, need bigger to be a truck gun.

Wink:

I don't think a diesel powered X would do well here.

If they could keep the sticker price around $50K here with a V-6 petrol engine, I think they would have a winner. Diesel's aren't as popular in the US as they are 'cross the pond.
At this point, they are being made in Argentina and Spain and I hope they see fit to utilize/expand the S. Carolina plant that builds the GLE's, and build some here, sometime in the future. Might take several years if it does happen.

It's pretty much a prettied up Nissan Navara. It's got the MB 4matic.

They could get Volkswagen to tune the emissions system to meet U.S. requirements.
