When I was a kid it would have been great to have you as my grandfather. But hey, it's never too late. I had my law firm (Dewey, Cheatum, and Howe) draw up adoption papers and I mailed them today. Tomorrow I'll send the Pre-64 Model 70 action, Kreiger barrel and stock blank. Labor is free to your grand kids, right? I'd like the completed rifle in time for white-tail season, November 5.

You are the best grandpa ever!

I'm an orphan and am putting myself up for adoption (hint, hint!). We can even expedite the paperwork if you're in a hurry.

Wow. Great work Duane and far more than most grandads do!

Sounds like they are turning out just fine.

Best wishes, Chris

The satisfaction of giving than receiving is priceless. May you and your family have the best of memories, especially in the field.

Those young men don't know how lucky they are... no, they probably do and will cherish these rifle the rest of their days! Well done Duane.

Very nice Duane.

Your grandsons will in their senior years remember the time with you everytime they hold their rifles.

I am sure that project will have a greater reward than any other, truly priceless. They are lucky to have a great gunmaker for a granddad, but they are much more so fortunate to have a grandpa of your character and integrity to show them the way.

Duane,

You continue to show us one beautiful rifle after another; when do you find time to sleep?

Those are very lucky grandsons.

You can choose your clothes, you can pick your XXXX, but you can't pick your parents. Well, they got very, very, lucky.

Just noticed one of your rifles is a Standard Modell. There goes another hard-to-find military model. You're spoiling things for all true Mauser collectors.

Steyrsteve,
These actions were bubba'd up long before they were donated to Duane for this project.
You need to get a life and you owe Duane an apology.

Does anyone here have any semblance of a sense of humor or irony? It often seems like so many are hanging on the edge just waiting for any little reason to go off the deep end for any imagined offense. Chill out, folks.

Duane, your rifle is a beautiful work, as I stated in a previous post. I've been around some high level gun makers for years and know how to view top level rifles. This is one of the best I've seen. Enough said. From now on, I will keep my compliments and any humorous comments away from your work,

Don't fret it. It is unfortunate that whenever one of these "writers" show up they feel the need to let everyone know how smart they are and ruin the place. We have a few on here now and if it were not for some of Butch and Duane's posts I would not come here at all. I suspect that Duane knew the tone in which you intended your comments. If not, I am sure he has a thick enough skin to not be offended at it.
