Yep. Octagon barrel with lots of squiggles, small ring something. Just a bit fuzzy.

Woo hoo! It works! I can host photo’s on my website again.

Im not sure on sizing, will have to look into how to do that since the forum doesn’t resize.

Can someone explain how those wavy lines on top of that barrel are made?
Also how is the matting on the action ring made, is it a form of fine stippling?

Nate,

Have you tried right clicking on your picture? Might find a way to re-size. Not always though.

Does anyone know what code this website uses?

I have tried several versions of html coding, and have not had any success.

I should be able to resize the pictures relatively easily but the board seems to just ignore every type of code I have tried.

Size the pics in whatever hosting medium you are using Before you post the code here. It takes a bit of experimenting but is needed as I can't imagine looking at your pic on a phone. It's still way too large for my laptop.
BTW: I'm using imageshack.com and find it very easy once you find your way around~~

I won't use 3rd party hosting if I don't have to. I host all my photo's on my website. My website was doing something, but I figured out part of the issue and found a way to do it.

If this website is run on HTML, it shouldn't matter what size the photo was uploaded at, the code should drive the size, but it is beyond me why this does not work.

I compress images on my PC using Microsoft Office Picture Manager before I upload them to a host or before emailing etc. Picture Manager will reduce 2.3Mb images down to approximately 400Kb (for documents), 77Kb (for email) or 9Kb (for web pages). I usually use the 'document' compression for forum posting via a host.

Picture Manager is no longer supported by MS but can still be found on the web for downloading. I find it a fast simple and logical programme, can't be bothered with some of these latest glossy and often illogical programmes MS loads now on their Windows OS and Office software.

I use Imgur to host images, probably can compress images there but simpler on the PC.

I've found a good way to test photos is by sending myself a private message. I can then adjust to the size I want.

Good luck!

I recommend to use no more than 1600x900 (or 1600 horizontally and 900 vertically) for general simple web presentation. I believe today the most used resolution is still Full HD (1920x1200 or 1920x1080), so 1600x900 will fit the screen with some stuff around just fine. Of course, you can have more advanced web presentation with browser resolution detection, automatic right resolution image providing and/or automatic scaling. You can have bandwidth detection there too. But for simple presentation, I just want keep that 1600x900, maybe linked to the original high resolution image.

Just my $0.02

HTML code drives the size? Hmm. that went over my head.
JPEG images are best. A dedicated camera is best at least for me. Cell phone pics are pain. San disks/mainstream digital cameras are great for pics.
Do you use a dedicated camera for pics & have your camera set to save pictures in the smallest size setting? For my $125.00 Sony, you just press MENU and then the center circle button to choose large or small. Nothing fancy needed.
Adjust the source of the picture if you can.
