This might be a weird place to put this discussion but my grandfather, Darrel Hansen, passed away last Saturday. He was well known around Northern Utah and Southern Idaho for his custom rifles. He also did some work for a few members of this forum and I got to handle those rifles while they were being stocked.

I was fortunate enough to accompany him on his last few deer hunts and help him harvest his last buck in 2017. He shot the deer with a custom 6.5x55 at 200 yards. I was hoping that he would be able to make it through one more hunting season but cancer treatments took him.

His love of guns took him right up to end of his life and kept his mind preocupied while his body failed him. After he finally decided to close his gun buisness, he only lasted another week.

Sad news but it looks like he lived a full life and left some great memories. May he rest in peace.

My Sympathies.

A life lived doing what he loved, with his family and work, was not wasted.

Condolences to you and the family.

The loss of a great gunsmith and hunter is a loss to the entire hunting/gun community.

Happy that you were able to hunt and learn from him. He will always be with you in your memories.

Will you be able to hunt with any of his guns to keep the legacy alive.

My condolences to you and your family.
I am sure your Grandpa cherished his time with you equally to how you cherished your time with him.
